- 「Under my skin」は、血液をモチーフにし、複雑な世界に生きる私たちが共通して持つ生命の営みを描く試みです。
- 私たちの生命を支える血液は、絶えず体内を循環し、各組織に栄養と酸素を届けます。赤血球は、毎日約2000億個という膨大な数で入れ替わりながら、この大切な役割を果たし続けています。
- 「Under my skin」を描くために、私は一滴の血液を顕微鏡で観察します。新鮮な血液は、ふっくらとした丸い細胞で満たされ、流れるように動きます。その様子はとても美しく、私は自然界とのつながりを強く感じずにはいられません。たとえば、川の流れ、太陽の光と木漏れ日、地球の表面、そして遠くの銀河に輝く星々――全てがひとつのものとして繋がっているように感じます。
- たった一滴の血液から、こんなにも雄大な景色を思い描けることに、私は深く感動しています。この想像力を頼りに、血液細胞がさまざまな倍率で、また時間の変化に伴ってどのように変化するのかを膨大な量の写真で撮影し、それらをコラージュします。そして、すべての細胞を赤い絵の具で丁寧に描き上げます。
- あなたと私の血液には、生命をめぐる歴史が刻まれています。
- その歴史には争いの記憶もありますが、同時に、共同の記憶も強く刻まれています。
私たちは血液によって結ばれていて、「Under my skin」という作品は、私たちが持つ共通の景色、私たちのつながりを表現したいです。この機会にチャンスがあれば、血液がつなぐ世界を想像してみてください。 - 血液は日々、代謝を繰り返しながら変化してゆきます。そして、私たちの未来も同じように作られてゆくものだと私は信じています。

- Under my skin is an exploration of life’s shared vitality through the blood motif, aiming to depict our intricate world.
- Blood, which sustains our lives, circulates ceaselessly through our bodies, delivering nutrients and oxygen to every tissue. Red blood cells, numbering approximately 200 billion per day, are constantly renewed to fulfil this essential role.
- I observe a single drop of blood under a microscope. Fresh blood is filled with plump, round cells that flow gracefully. This dynamic beauty evokes a profound connection to the natural world—like the river’s flow, the dappled sunlight through trees, the surface of the Earth, and the stars shining in distant galaxies—all interconnected as part of a greater whole.
- I am deeply moved by the idea that such vast landscapes can be imagined from a single drop of blood. Drawing on this sense of wonder, I capture countless images of blood cells under varying magnifications and time-lapse conditions, compiling these into collages. Each cell is meticulously painted in red, layer by layer.
- Your blood and mine both carry the history of life. This history includes memories of conflict, but it also binds us together inextricably. Blood continually regenerates through metabolic cycles, undergoing endless transformation.
- I invite you to imagine this world connected through blood. Reflect on the ever-evolving future that changes incrementally over time, like metabolism.
- For this exhibition, THEO’s gallery space will be transformed into an infinite cosmic realm, showcasing works exclusively from the Under my skin series.
